to ring in the new year? If you are staying home and plan on cozying up
with loved ones why not get some fabulous lounging pajamas? How
swellegant can a girl get? You know Victoria's Secret actually has some
nice ones for the lounging this year. Oh and go ahead and wear slippers
with heels when you slip into your lounging look or think hostess pants.
Now if you plan on heading out into the wild Vegas night make sure you
have an outfit that can take you from dusk to dawn. Oh and make sure
your makeup can too. No raccoon eyes at 2 a.a. for a Vegas Fashionista.

Okay so eat drink and be merry but you may want to
plan on getting up mighty early for the sales. How many of you really do
that? Yeah that's what I thought. Me too. You know i always have the
best of intentions and I swear that this will be the year I am up at
dawn getting the goodies but just like my New Year's resolutions I won't
keep the whole up at dawn to shop for a sale is just wishful
thinking. Besides I figure if I wanted it that badly I probably already
bought it. Yes I am an instant gratification kind of girl. Hey what
fashionista isn't? But seriously you know I did do the super early thing
a few years ago after Thanksgiving (I never went to sleep so I was at
the stores at 4:30 a.m.) and it was worth it. After Christmas is also
the best time to get the most amazing decorations for next Christmas or
if you are like me I out them up and use them till New Year's! Hey I
love the whole Christmas decorating thing and I live to shop for
Christmas decorations.

.Kate Moss voted "Model of The Year" in Britain.
Yes it's true fashionstas Kate who despite her rather scandalous life is
one stylish and devoted fashionista. Despite the drug allegations
and loser boyfriend (um when is she going to just dump the loser? God
she wouldn't be seen with a bag that tacky!) Kate has managed to rise
above it all and now has 14 contracts with major companies (oh so that is
why it seems she is in every media campaign out there) and was voted
"Model of the year" at the British Fashion Awards. Now here is the
real sad part. Since Kate has reunited with Pete the. scummy loser
boyfriend, lead singer of Baby Shambles, her manners just go down the
toilet. Believe it or not she did not even show up at the awards show
where she was voted model of the year! Well my dears the fashion
community may forgive a lot but it is unlikely they will forget this
one. Esecially since she was hanging with Pete just a few streets down.
Now if she has been on a shoot that would be one thing but this is just
a slap in the face! Kate, fashionistas around the world are
disappointed. We surely thought this would be a great opportunity for
you to get out there and celebrate! Or at least see you dressed to kill.
Kate we love you but a fashionista should know better!

Week in New York to move? It certainly looks like
it. Although Bryant Park will host Fashion Week in New York for Feb.
after that fashion week will be filling out a change of address form.
Fashionistas all want to know one thing.......WHERE? Well darlings the
new location is still anyone's guess. Lincoln Center was named as a
possible venue but that is not likely to happen. Remember Fashion Week
BIG in New York and all the designers and fashionistas will need a BIG
local to go with. We are talking at least the two acres that fashion
week takes up right now and my guess is that if the organizers are smart
they will pick a location with even more room as things are pretty
cramped right now. I for one would love to see a front row so big it
could even include moi!.

Company Helena Rubinstein (do you remember this one?) was quite the
luxury brand in their day and looks like they are looking to be so
again. Evidently the company is gearing up for a reanaissance
Sept....28th........Big news for a
Tucson Salon.........Spirit Salon wins national makeover contest out of
tens of thousands! That's right fashionistas right
here in Tucson we have one of the top "makeover" salons in the country.
Every since Spirit Salon and Day Spa opened they have been known as
the place for a makeover. Spirit was featured on TLC in their
makeover story "Tucson Tomboys" that was a few years ago and that show
has been one of their most watched! Now the latest news is that Spirit
Salon on Campbell and Glenn has won a makeover contest over tens of
thousands of other entrants from all over the country.
Spirit Hairdresser and owner Danette Lawless will travel to New York
and the salon has won so many prizes. The contest was put on by national
hair product company Joico. As you know I have featured Spirit
Salon on "The Fashionista Life" all the time. I love, love, love this
salon! If you are looking for a great place for hair, nails and lash
extensions head over to Spirit I do!
Sept. 24th........A
happy day for fashionistas on the go. Carry on restrictions have been
lifted. You can now carry on gels and liquids in small amounts and in
clear plastic bags. Yay! No more having to have all your valuable
cosmetics checked. You know fashionistas like to keep our $500 creams
within sight and reach. You will also be able to carry on foods you have
purchased after you have passed through security. I must admit leaving
those French fries behind was not a bad thing for me. Be prepared
if you are traveling soon. Security personnel is just getting used to
the new rules so the lines are long and rumor has it that if you want to
speed through security you may want to leave all those gels and liquids
in your checked luggage to get through much faster. Wait a couple of
weeks for them to adjust and then you can load up

14th......Beware skinny models. Officials in
Madrid have banned emaciated looking fashion models. Models were
weighed and if they did not have high enough BMI they were banned
from strutting their stuff (or lack thereof) from the Madrid
fashion week runways. WOW! this is a first fashionistas! So what do you
think? Do you think this will help women's body image? Is this a
one time deal? Will other fashion shows follow? There were some very
upset designers.

Von Furstenberg has fashionistas looking forward to spring a bit early.
Her designs were to die for at Fashion Week Spring 07. We saw baby doll
dresses in bold prints that were very 60's retro. The color was pink,
orange and white for many of the designs. Of course her lady bug dress
is sure to be a spring "must have". There were so many great styles for
spring from Diane in addition to the fabulous wrap dress for which she
is famous. Her whole collection is a "must see". I swear this is one of
her best!

7th.... Less than 24 hours to Fashion Week.
New York is all abuzz and fashionistas will be too! Hilary Swank
has been named the new face of Guerlain and on Sept. 12th will be at
Saks Fifth Ave in New York for the launch of the new fragrance
Insolence.
Looks like we will be seeing quite a lot of Hilary since she
will be nude and in silhouette.
Oh and have you heard the latest? Seems
Hilary has found love again with Creative Artists Agency boss Campisi.
They have been spotte4d together in Italy kissing.
Though he denies the
relationship is anything more than business word has it that she cried
on his shoulder about the split with Chad.

In other news..It looks like
Suri the new born of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may actually be having
her first public photos. According to Page 6 of The NY Post Vanity Fair
may have gotten the first dibs on the photos that Annie Leibovitz
has taken. Word has it they will be out in the fall. Vanity Fair has no
comment. Guess we will have to wait and see? After we have had to wait
so long do you still care? Frankly, it just seems a bit weird that no
one can see the tot but Tom allows his ex-girlfriend to see her?

10th....This
is not a good day to be flying the friendly skies. Due
to terrorist plans to create a bomb from liquid that
was to be mixed once on board the plane that would cause a
horrific loss of life to passengers flying to the U.S. from
the U.K. that were discovered and thwarted by
the U.K flying out of the U.K and the U.S. was delayed and
in some instances stopped. Fashionistas flying the skies
take note this will affect you: No one will be allowed
to carry on any form of liquid, gel or beverage. You must
check all these substances in your luggage. Fashionistas
this means no shampoo, gels, or perfume can be in your carry
on. Oh and get this...no lipstick or lip gloss in your
purse! This means no liquid foundation, moisturizer or
sunscreen either. I know this won't be easy. I always carry
on my make-up and toiletries in the event that my
luggage is lost (and with the slowdown at security there
will be a lot of lost luggage) so that i still have what I
need to get by. I also moisturize and use my creams and
glosses while flying since the air is so drying. Girls looks
like all these great skin habits to keep you fresh and
hydrated and looking great upon arrival may be a thing of
the past for the time being. Oh and due to all the security
checks you should arrive at least 2 hours early to allow you
enough time to get through security. Oh my, for those of us
who like to arrive um fashionably late (running to the gate
while the plane waits) this will not be easy. It's for all
our safety and it's worth it. Try using a mineral makeup
when flying and for your lips use a lip pencil to line (ever
so lightly and blend) and to color in your lips. You can
even even grab a cherry chap stick for a little over $1.50
if your lips need moisture and a light tinge of color. You
won't feel too bad when you have to toss it to board.
Aug 8th....It's that time
of year again when carrying your fashion magazines is a
workout! Yes ladies they are out and should be in your mail
box....The fall edition of all out favorite mags! I love,
love, love it! Let's see what has come in so
far....elle is in with Lindsay on the cover in Blue sequins
from Emporio Armani. On the inside cover she's wearing that
gold Gucci dress that Kate and a couple others have already
worn. Guess we know what's going to be the hot Gucci dress
this season. Lucky Magazine Eva Mendes is on the cover. I
still have not gotten my Vogue yet but I expect it any day
with my Harper's and the other 20 magazines I subscribe to.
But one of my favorites has got to be Vanity Fair Sept.
cover with Kate Moss. Have you seen it? Kate is resplendent
in nothing but long white gloves, ling black boots and a
white fur hat! She looks amazing! This is the 2006 best
dressed list with who's in and who's out. Sept. is of
course the style issue . This issue is a must. Is it me or
does this look like a Christmas cover?

am talking bronzers on Good Morning AZ this morning! I am talking about
my favorite s and why you don't need the sun (or it's damaging rays) to
look like a bronzed and golden goddess. I love Sun self tanner. It is
dark brown and is like a bottle of pure brown skin. Nor a drop of
orange. You can get it at Spirit Salon
also adore the
spray on self tanner and the cream self tanner and bronzer by Scott
Barnes who is the make up artist to JLo, Jessica Simpson and Eva
Longoria. I cannot live with out the Scott Barnes Body Bling. Jennifer
Lopez and Jennifer Anniston both love Body Bling and use it all the time
on the red carpet and on every magazine cover. Get all of these self
tanners at Maria Martin in the La Encantada shopping plaza.
You can get some great self tanners at
the drug store. I love Loreal Sublime bronzer and self tanner. It leaves
my skin feeling soo soft. I wear it all the time. They also make great
face towel bronzers so you can just towel on your tan. I live for the
bronzer in a gun spray./ It may not look like it would work. It's one of
those "as seen on TV" but it is great. You get the gun with spray for
less than $20 and I have even found it for $10. You can get he refills
for $9 and less! This is a strong enough spray that will give you a dark
even tan. Now you know i advise you start with a Mystic tan like the
stars do and add all these other bronzers on after to add shine and make
your tan last longer. I layer it on and it lasts.
I love Cargo powder bronzer and the
Scott Barnes powder bronzer. Remember not to do your whole face in
bronzer. You should make your cheeks have some pink at he top just like
the sun does. I love Cargo Beach Blush. Get Cargo at Maria Martin.
Another great find at the drug store.
Physician's Formula has tons of great bronzers and they even have one
with a 20 SPF. I love it!

it's time to start getting your fall wardrobe ready. Face it aren't you
ready for a change? I am love, love, loving the fall collections. Click

thing I advise everyone to get this season it's a great pair of black
tights. Yes, we are seeing everything and I mean everything with black
tights and leggings this season. You will even be wearing you r white
chiffon dancing dress with black tights. I love the way the tights just
give dresses such a different look. They seem to ground the pieces. Buy
a couple of pairs of the best tights you can afford and leggings. I love
Wolford tights.

new developments in the Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook debacle...looks
like he was involved with his 19 year old assistant whom he hired for
that very purpose!
Looks like her father broke the news to Christie
after several attempts to get Peter to leave his daughter alone went
unheeded.
Good old Dad, who is a police officer if I am not mistaken
confronted Peter in front of Christie and the rest is well you know and
it looks like Peter is too.

box office records.

9th......Okay Girls, the World Cup is on and though
I am not much of a sports or soccer
fan......the boys are cute, guapisimos, no? There is
something about a soccer player and those uniforms........SO "I
don't even give it a thought and i still look so hot with
my hair all a mess"...and I think soccer players have some
of the best hair in the business. At the very least the
most fashion forward. Just look at Beckham and some of the
others with that floppy hair in the eyes thing going on.
Aunque no me pongo loca por los deportes ni
soccer me encantan los hombres que juegan futbol. Que padre se
ven en los uniformes con el cabello despenado pero siempre wow!
Y por eso me case con un jugador de Escotia. El es rubio,

in the USA I have some fabulous shopping news for a Fashionista
vacation. You know you love a vacation that revolves around the
newest and latest in shopping! Branson Missouri is getting a
million dollar shopping center that will be comparable to San
Antonio's River Walk. The project will boast 100 stores and
restaurants. This will be an entertainment center as well and
will even have the dancing water fountains like the ones at The
Bellagio. The center will also have a Belk departmenrt store and
a Hilton Boutique hotel will be opening as well. The center
opens next weekend to lure affluent travelers. Something I found
interesting......men's fashion in Japan. As we all know the
Japanese men are famous for their uniform of conservative suits
and dark ties. Well, a guy can get a little hot under the collar
when that collar is buttoned up with a tie as well in Japans
sweltering summer heat. What to do? Cool Biz a campaign run by
the government to get the men to well cool it and wear lighter
colored clothing with no tie. One of the reasons for this is
that Japan wants to cut down on air conditioning. By getting
corporate Japan to to set the office temp at a steamy 82 degrees
the nation in 2005 reduced carbon dioxide emissions by
460,000tons-the same amount that a million households create
each month. So fashion designers to the rescue...see what the
right fashion can do? Designers are coming up with ligjht weight
trousers and jackets and light. According to The Wall Street
Journal this is not the first time that Japanese men have tried
to dress sown to cool off. In the early 1990's the former prime
minister made headlines by wearing a short sleeved suit! Ewww!
Surprise the look did not catch on. Can you imagine? I am not
even sure I like short sleeved shirts on men for business but a
short sleeved suit? Are the kidding?

on Moonlight Bridal....... A dear friend of mine who is renewing
her vows threw on her flip flops and ran over to Moonlight
Bridal in St. Phillips Plaza and she found the dress of her
dreams. According to Patricia she had goose bumps when she tried
it on and she knew this dress was made for her. Patricia did not
do the whole "Works" wedding the first time so this is truly
special. She had been looking for awhile and almost "settled"
for a dress and service that she was not happy with. She said
she loved the woman who helped her and really made the event
special. Best of all the prices are so amazing! She got shoes,
veil and tiara too and all at a price that gave her goose bumps
as well! I have to tell you though that the dress she wanted was
the last in her size so she knew better than to even think about
it for five minutes. This is an opportunity no fashionista
should miss!

Um, and?SOmething tells me we need not worry about Lindsay. But hey do
you think there is anything to that hypnotism thing? My husband wants to
know.

business? Yes they had the grand opening on Friday May 7th. I love
this boutique full of Tory Burch, yes can you believe that we have this
in Tucson. There is also vintage Pucci and great new designs. This store
is like having an international boutique here with famous designers from
all over the world. In the News......How much does it cost to raise a
teenager? Oh and what if that teen is a fashionista? USA Today series on
the cost of raising a child depends on where you live and on your
income. I think it also depends on your values and your child's.
Mother's Day was yesterday and today we are talking about raising a teen

May 8th...
Today's featured designer is Missoni. This is a family dynasty. They
were just featured on Oprah. Missoni was started by the grandmother and
grandfather and now their granddaughter Margarita Missoni is their muse.
Missoni is famous for their colorful knits.
In other news Katie Holmes is out and about just 2
weeks after having the baby. According to all reports she is looking
great again. When do women get a break? These days we are expected to
look great during the pregnancy and then arrive at the hospital in
maternity clothes (size 2 maternity of course) and then leave in size 0
regular clothing! Please! By the way you should note that yes after 2
moths these stars do look really good in the days after the baby they
have been dressed to hide anything well` extra. Did you notice what
Katie was wearing? She was wearing an empire waist dress that is very
flattering for all body types and is not at all clinging. In fact the
material is loose around the body and you really cannot make out the
shape of the body. This is a very forgiving style and then of course the
dress is black. A lot of the reason why they look so great is picking
the right clothing.
